Gillian Walker is a composer from Scotland whose work is concerned with the visual and social aspects of performance. Gillian is interested in collaboration across disciplines, social art practices and creating music with communities.

Recent commissions and collaborative projects have included works for the Cumnock Tryst Festival (for the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra), Deep Time Festival (for performers Yshani Perinpanayagam and Katherine Tinker), Chamber Music Scotland (for percussionist Calum Huggan, choreographer Constant Vigier and Gaia Duo), Scottish Chamber Orchestra, EXAUDI and Plus-Minus Ensemble. Alongside composing, Gillian enjoys working as a workshop leader for organisations such as: the Cumnock Tryst Festival, Drake Music Scotland and the London Sinfonietta.

Gillian is a recent graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and received a Masters degree in Composition with Distinction in 2023, and was a Junior Fellow at the Guildhall from 2023-2024. Her studies were kindly supported by a Dewar Arts Award, Sir James Caird Travelling Scholarship Trust, The Cross Trust and a Guildhall Scholarship as a Leverhulme Arts Scholar. ​She is the recipient of the Kimie Composition Prize 2019/2020, which resulted in a new work, 'The Music Box', commissioned by Live Music Now Scotland for an audience of children with additional support needs, the 2021 Patron’s Fund Prize (Royal College of Music) for composition, and the Tracey Chadwell Memorial Award 2022.​
